Motivation: What it takes to succeed

From my early childhood I had a strong willingness not to disappoint my father. The case is he has been always anchoring great hopes on me, as a result, I have the desire to correspond to them. All this is supported by the fact that my father is a vivid example for me of how time and efforts may bring any your wish into reality. I don't want to break this rule and become an exception, thus, I am aiming at being accepted to the university and providing my father with another reason for being proud of me.

As I have already mentioned, the main ground for me concerning the college acceptance, is my father, more precisely, his hard path to becoming a student. He used to dream of being an engineer. For this he needed a higher education, his family though couldn't afford his studies. Moreover, he had to get a job, so that he could help his parents deal with all the bills which seemed to continuously grow.

In the age of nine years old, my father had to get acquainted with the work, as my grandpa was a farmer, and the farmstead strongly required his help. The working hardship was accompanied by the stresses of constant migrations which, to my mind, are quite firm reasons for not applying for a university. However, my father stuck to another opinion, making all the possible: working hard, with strong commitment and drive, he had set a goal in form of higher education and was overcoming all the obstacles on his track to it. Diligently studying in high school and presenting good performance, he got a governmental financial support to get a welding certificate. This was a great basis for his further development and receiving a profound job position which could substantially improve the financial state of the whole family.

He had been working for fifteen years in the field he had chosen, always doing his best to improve and progress. He was always committed to the things he dealt with, he was working not for anyone else's praise, but for personal understanding of self-development. He realized that upgrading even the smallest details enhanced his chances for success. A famous race driver, Mario Andretti, said “Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal - a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek.”

These words turned out to be a motto for my father which I have luckily inherited.

It was hard to stand out among other two hundreds of his colleagues, but it wasn't an excuse for not trying hard. After submitting several creative ideas for working process improvement, he got noticed and was offered a promotion. To have a sufficient revenue at the position, he had to possess corresponding qualifications. And that was the moment of success: not only my father had his own means to pay for the college, but his company was ready to provide him with the sum required.

Due to the mentioned above, I am a strong supporter of the idea that determination is the crucial point in reaching any goals. In my opinion, the goal itself is like a stage of self-improvement, which, in its turn, is a sense of life. Thus, I regard college as this very stage, as this very sense. Furthermore, it offers so many opportunities for development: new acquaintances, new knowledge, new experience. And everything at a wholly new level.

Putting myself in my father's shoes, I'm afraid of my being not so purposeful. By this I mean that I could react not so firmly on all the hazards and failures presented by the fortune. According to these thoughts, I realize unde how much better conditions I am now and how many benefits i have, comparing with my father's adolescence. That's why, I have no right to fall short of my father's expectations.

Being inspired by father, I put myself out to be enrolled. I keep my performance at a profoundly high level, even though I'm a 'possessor' of absolutely humanitarian turn of mind, and mathematics does trouble me, I dedicate much time to all these equations and graphics, so that I can still understand the class material. A strong motive is an excellent helper in such cases/ What I do love to spend time on is the drama club I attend. It makes me be always in high spirits forgetting about the bad mood. Writing belongs to my passions, as well. It is a great way of expressing one's own ideas with the whole range of all the emotions he or she has at the moment.

To sum up, I would love to emphasize that devotion to your dreams, commitment to your deeds and thorough realizing of what you are to fulfill are the strongest supporters on the path to success. Therefore, no one should forget about his or her desire, since everything can come true. The only thing required is the true willingness which, as generally accepted, has no limits.
